The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) prides itself in the promotion of excellence in Teaching, Learning and Research. The role of Student Services Division (SSD) therefore complements this and ensures the provision of a conducive environment that supports students in their academic journey and promoting retention and throughput through effective support structures. We promote the university’s vision by contributing to the holistic development of students as well-rounded innovative and socially responsible global leaders.

The Division is driven by goals that were determined in accordance to the UKZN goals (2017-2021). In light of this, the SSD DSRA goals are as follows:

• To meet expectations of current and future students by creating a platform for engagement.
• To create a conducive environment that promotes access, inclusion and REACHT values, and facilitates the success of staff and students.
• To provide effective co-curricular programs and services that contribute to developing well rounded and engaged graduates and alumni who are global citizens.
• To enhance the corporate identity of SSD and be a leader in student services in the African continent.
• To enable strong corporate governance, leadership & effective operational efficiencies through transformation, innovation and agility in a changing higher ED environment.
• To foster national & international collaborations that are impactful for societal transformation.
